Fun Week

This week seemed to be very busy.  We now have Upwards basketball practice every Tuesday with games every Saturday plus Josh & Cate have joined the kids choir at The Chapel.  This is led by Miss Cathy and Mr. Jake.  Cathy and Jake are 2 of their favorite Chapel people so we knew they would feel comfortable with them as leaders.  Plus can these kiddos sing. They have their own style for praising the Lord and we thank King's Garden for encouraging their love for worship.  They had a great start in life with praising our Lord and Savior as the basis for it all.  Thank you KGCH.

Sometimes I forget that basic everyday stuff is new for our kiddos.  For example playing in the bathtub, watching IU basketball with Dad, rocking with mom, or just getting the car filled up with gas. They love to help so washing the windows was a treat.

Josh & Cate had their 6 mo dentist appointments this week and just so happened we had a snow day off school that day.  At the dentist they had panoramic x-rays taken so that was a new adventure.  They did great with it and we had no cavaties!.  We made it to the dentist and to Burger King for lunch.  This BK has a play yard that they really enjoy.

We had a very nice couple (thanks Janie & Steve) give us tickets to the Shrine Circus.  My dad was a shriner and we had been blessed to go to the circus with our older children so I was excited when the opportunity came to take Josh & Cate to the circus.  Our usual routine on Friday night is to eat at Panda Express.  The kids love the orange chicken and lo mein noodles there.  So we headed to Panda Express and then onto the circus.

Thanks again for reading the blog and praying for us in our journey with Josh & Cate.

Snow Snow Snow!

We had a blizzard this week and the kids really loved that.  We got the driveway cleared "family-style" in no time flat.  Actually it was a couple of hours but there was some fun in there.  Josh really took to the snowblower and pretty much did the whole drive himself.  Cate tried the snowblower but it was deep heavy snow and she didn't really have the muscle for it.  The muscle part was right up Josh's alley and he took to it like crazy doing all the sidewalks too!  It was fun to have the kids outside enjoying the winter weather.

Then on Saturday we had our first Upwards basketball game.  We have 7 players and only 2 had ever played in a game before.  It was really fun.  Josh scored a couple of baskets.  He really prefers to launch a 3 pointer from midcourt (and often makes these) so we were encouraging him to get up close with the basket.  He is a good hustler and can make things happen on the court.  Cate is really quick to get her hands up and be a defender.  She had some great rebounds and a couple near misses.  They both did great and we were proud of them.  Jeff and I are coaching them so it was fun to get to be right there on the bench with them giving out the praise and encouragement.  It was really great to see Grandma Walker, Uncle Kirk and Aunt Jenni come to root everyone on.  Thanks for being great fans and joining us for the game.

We are always trying to introduce new foods to the kids.  They typically want FF at McDoos or orange chicken & noodles at Panda Express.  We took them to Subway and showed them all the choices.  They don't usually like cold sandwiches but they seemed excited to get all the fresh veggies  plus we let them have chips & a drink of choice so that helped.  It seemed to be a hit so Jeff & I are excited to be able to add Subway to our list of fast food stops.

We spent part of Sunday swimming at the Y and the kids always love that. It is great exercise and they are getting better at interacting with other kids in the pool. The Y has a really cool purple slide that both kids love.  Cate always enjoys the climbing wall and she is a whiz at scaling that thing. Josh was excited to shoot some hoops with a new friend after swimming.

This is what the kids did during the football game.  Cate worked on a drawing of our family and Josh intensley (is that a word?) watched the whole game.  That kid is in to football or whatever sport is being played!

We've had a good week.  Thanks for reading the blog and as always life is about choices and we will continue
